Amelia has been entered for her first Triathlon. It's the Sun Rype Tri Kids Triathlon Series. It's on August 6 in Bracebridge. We will be at the cottage (near Gravenurst) then so it's convenient. I like this series, although it's a timed event, it's non-competitive. Amelia is a pretty good swimmer, she's level 8 Red Cross. She's run a few 1K's so far, and will probably do another one on Canada day. Oh and of course, she can ride a bike. So will be a great event for her. Lots of fun. I showed her the photo gallery for past event, and once she saw that there were little kids wearing life jackets in the swim and training wheels on the bike, she felt more comfortable.
The age categories are split so she will only be competing with 8-9 year olds as well. Here are the distances
Swim - 75m
Bike - 3km
Run - 1km

This is great! I really love it when they cater for the kids. My son is 10 and his got a nice collection of 5km medals. He is so proud of it and this motivates him to do more. The kids have lots of fun at these events.
